懐かしい？ 懐かしくない？ｗ
いつかどこかで沢山見たような、コンチネンタル航空のボーイング737-800。
NGって Next Generartion＝第参世代、-600、-700、-800、-900 の「シン・737」の総称。
従いまして、あのダークサイドに行ってしまった Star Wars 塗装も 737NG シリーズです。
亀裂が入った部品があちこちの航空会社で見つかっているのは、羽根を胴体に繋げる部分で「ピックル・フォーク」＝漬物用黒文字、という愛称で呼ばれているパーツだそうです。
こんな形の部品。737の胴体部分模式図が右側だから、窓の間に埋め込まれている結構おおきな部品だよね。
9万回の発着に耐える設計のはずが、2万5千回を超えたあたりの機材で既に亀裂が発生しているそうです。

こうなってくると、もう Next Generation じゃなくて Not Good のNG。ネーミングで失敗したか...。
LCCって機材を酷使している印象があるから、ますますやばく感じます。
今度から国内線の予約を入れる時にはB737を避けるようになりそう。
でもサンフランシスコ←→ヒューストン線なんて、ほぼB737しか飛んでない。(泣)

ちょうどこの記事を公開した11月11日付けで、ボーイングからプレスリリースが出ました。
> MAX returns to commercial service, and which we now expect to begin in January.
FAAの証明がもらえそうなので、737MAXの飛行&販売再開を来年1月と見込んでいるそうです。
> MAX will be one of the safest airplanes ever to fly.
いまさら「今まででいちばん安全な飛行機」とか言われてもねぇ...。
このプレスリリースで、ボーイングの株価 (NYSE:BA) は5%も上がりました。
･･･次回、カラ売りできるのはいつでしょうね？ｗｗｗ

ReplyDeleteIt’s a little bit scary for me to know fissures were caught sight on a lot of B737NG airplanes examined universally.
Moreover, such fundamental cracks are thought to need restoration of the involved portions.
I strongly want to have planes with cracks dropped in place just before the repairs are done since I’m going to fly the same type of JL’s jet to HND in next Feb.
I’ve had confidence for Boeing so far, however I think Airbus may be better than Boeing presently considering this trouble has happened on the B737NG as well as the B737MAX which is also now grounded.

DeleteI’ve never seen such gargantuan pickle fork either. And this part is to reinforce the connection of a main wing to the body; it reads the cracking of reinforcement must be very serious incident. After reading this news, I became very skeptic about Boeing’s quality control and assurance (QC/QA) procedures… it may be as bad as a certain video game manufacturer. (lol)
Luckily, my flight plans next year don’t contain Boeing 737 products. The smallest airplane I will board will be Airbus A321, and the smallest Boeing product will be B757-200 which will be the only narrow body Boeing aircraft I will board. But there would be the high chance to encounter that Californian inspired painting on B757. Well, still better than Star Wars B737 went into dark side.
Be careful when you board B737 operated by Japan Airlines, not only for the aircraft itself but the attendants (both cockpit and cabins) are under influence of alcohol. :))
