Japan Trip - Nov.2019 (10)

Frankly, you’ve spent each 1/3 of your life in Toyo, in the States and in Chiba, haven’t you ?
Beneath like this state of affairs along with the act of going from San Mateo to another cities worldwide, you fundamentally undergo an emotional sensation or be in a particular state of mind that you’re a global resident.

By ceaseless having Tsukemen at the shop, you decidedly discovered you do not prefer Tsukemen.
Such chummy strips of pasta with fine-grained common condiment doesn’t match your preference, I guess.
Alternatively, the Tomita’s ramen seems to be deserving of esteem and respect.
It’d be more than enjoying for you to stand in a queue for their ramen in Narita Terminal 1, wouldn’t it ?

    1. Yamada Denki sensei,

What timing! I’ve just completed another article of Tomita at Narita T1 in last February. I am surprised by myself – I ate and drank exactly the same… plus a bowl of cha-shu rice. (lol)

Yes, I wasted first 18 years in a beachside town in Chiba, spent memorable periods in Westside of downtown Tokyo, and then terrific 22 years in San Mateo, CA. I think my life is kinda roller coaster… or just a submarine sinking deeper and deeper to the hell.
However, these several years, living in San Mateo downtown is as convenient as when I lived in Ogikubo, Suginami City. There are numbers of ramen shop within walking distance and their qualities are above average. Several restaurants where I loved are closed but newly opened ones are sometimes lovely enough to be an admirer.
One of the recent grand-opening was the Taishoken Ramen USA, the first restaurant was open in San Mateo. Then… what I expected was the ramen just like Tomita serves which is a stereotypical shoyu ramen by Taishoken restaurants, but San Mateo shop offers Americanized, chicken tonkotsu soup… still tasty but not for me unfortunately. I am born and raised in the kingdom of soy-sauce, Chiba!

Taishoken is famous about tsukemen, and Tomita inherited their original style. However, however… those udon-like enormously thick noodles and vein-clogging rich dipping sauce is not for me… This afternoon, I just received my blood exam taken last Tuesday and the amount of glucose was 197, A1c was 8.9, ALT and AST are above normal range which suggests my liver is getting troublesome… I’m perfectly ready to be infected by SARS-Cov-2 and then easily cause respiratory troubles for sure.

Bottom line, I will keep eating good ramen like Tomita serves, even I have riskier preexisting conditions. I’m being an optimist as usual. I don’t want to bear from good foods for considering my health too much. I would eat whatever I like and passing away, that’s my life. The worst case scenario for me is; bearing good food and exercising properly to be healthy, the hit by a car and passing… Being lived is difficult – which is told by Buddha again and again, then people can’t follow. :))
