もう終わっちゃうけど、10 月は『乳がん月間』Breast Cancer Awareness Monthでした。
先日、サンマテオ駅前の交番に停めてあったパトカーが凄かった…。
正直な感想は『ここまでやるのか！？』でした…。
サンマテオ警察署のロゴマークまで、乳がん月間のテーマカラーでキメています。
黒とピンクのパトカーで、警察署のロゴマークまで同じ色に合わせ混む勇気が凄いと思った。
いつも旅行の時にユナイテッド航空の機内で履いているのがこんな色の靴下なので、それを思い出します。それってナイキの DRY-FIT バスケ・ソックスで、乳がん月間のピンクリボンがバッチリデザインされた靴下だから…。

いつもは茶トラふたりを朝の散歩に連れ出していましたが… ニャーゴローまで出てくるようになりました。
ニャーゴは元々このへんの野良だったはずなので、外出させたら帰ってこなくなると思っていました。
でも、ちゃんと自分の住処を認識しているようで、パン・パン と２拍手すると帰宅なのを学習しました。
人相は悪いが頭のデカい ぬこ なので、物覚えはいいみたいです。
我が家の裏、ぬこを散歩させているサンマテオ佛教会の第弐駐車場って、40台くらい停められる広さですが…
こうやって３人揃っていてくれれば、監視が簡単に行き届きます。
でも、ひとたび全員がバラバラな方向へ歩き出すと大変。行動の制御&教育的指導のために水鉄砲を購入しましたが、やりすぎだという非難を受けて断念、毎朝「ぬこと追いかけっこ」です…。
寒くなってきたら、駐車場の真ん中で心不全で倒れそう。(汗)
さらに、米国でも売り出されたイ○バの『ぬこちゅ～る』を使ってみたら、もう大変。
さっそく中毒患者、１名発生。さらにあと２名、ちゅ～るの虜になってしまいました。
午後８時（日本の正午）の NHK ニュースを観ていると… 茶トラ１名、キジトラ１名、グレー１名に取り囲まれます。
「おやつはまだか！？」
ニャーゴさんは、普段は一言も声を発しない ぬこ なんですが、ちゅ～るタイムだけ別。
「にﾞあﾞ」（何か重大なことを忘れてないか？）
・・・と、この時だけは一声 鳴くようになりました。
ちゅ～る、恐るべし。
それと、10 月の最初の週は母と妹がサンマテオを訪ねてくれました。
朝の「ぬこ散歩」に付き合ってくれた母は、来週 89 歳。
ウソコ座りしている妹は… ぬこ写真の撮影に一生懸命でした。
なんか、儂と家人に会いに来るという名目で、ぬことあそんでばっか。(苦笑)
折しも 10 月 11 日、日本國の無意味な水際対策が解除された日に帰国しました。
ANAのファーストに乗ったおかげもあって、入国は大変にスムーズだったそうです。
なお、搭乗待ちでファーストの列に並んでいたら、GA にシッシッされたそうです。ｗ
搭乗券を見せた時の、驚きで歪んだ GA の顔が忘れられないという妹の談でした。ｗｗｗ
どんだけみすぼらしい装いで搭乗したのかは知らんが、全日空もちょっとアレだね。(爆)
来月はまず、母&妹と出かけたサンフランシスコのインタコを御覧にいれます。
その後は久しぶりのイスタンブールなんですが… 写真変臭してなくて遅れそう。
In Japan, there is also a "breast cancer awareness period," but I don't think it was referred to as a "month." Perhaps because breast cancer awareness has progressed considerably in Japan, or because screening using mammography and ultrasound has become more prevalent, breast cancer is the most frequent malignancy among women and ranks fourth in cancer mortality. This means that the number of deaths has decreased due to an increase in early detection. However, on the other hand, in Japan, colorectal cancer unfortunately ranks first in cancer mortality among women malignancies. This is exactly the opposite of the current situation with breast cancer, and it is because detection is often delayed due to the difficulty in getting people to receive colonoscopies. Although the fecal occult blood test is still commonly used for colorectal cancer screening, the concept that "fecal occult blood test = colorectal cancer screening" is fundamentally wrong. For stomach cancer screening, diagnostic imaging of the stomach itself is performed using a barium swallow or endoscopy, and the same goes for breast cancer screening. However, because the current concept is "fecal occult blood test = colorectal cancer screening," misunderstandings such as "if there is no blood in the stool, there is no colorectal cancer" tend to prevail. Additionally, over half of people who test positive for fecal occult blood do not undergo colonoscopy. As for me, I feel a bit empty thinking about why they are undergoing screening. Of course, I understand that the gap between the fecal occult blood test and colonoscopy as the next step is too large for the general public, but it is still very disappointing that more people do not undergo colonoscopy, which would significantly reduce the number of people who die from colorectal cancer.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, the San Mateo Police Department's patrol cars seem to be quite impressive. Although not a patrol car, it reminded me of the "Yellow Leek Taxi" and "Ikeda Zoo Taxi" that I occasionally see around Okayama lately. You might see them in May too, right?
Yellow leek cultivation is said to have originated in Okayama Prefecture and is a vegetable with a history of cultivation since the early Meiji era. It is grown using a unique method called "light-shielding cultivation," which involves blocking out light. This method adds to the sweetness of the leeks and produces a unique crunchy texture, as the fibers are soft enough to be eaten raw.
In 1953, it was established as the "Ikeda Industrial Zoological Gardens" by Takamasa Ikeda, the grandson of the former lord of the Okayama Domain, and his wife, Atsuko Ikeda, the fourth daughter of Emperor Shōwa. In 1960, it became the current Ikeda Zoo.

DeleteIn Japan, I think the breast cancer awareness periods must be shorter because usually Japanese females don’t have big boobs. (lol)
What I heard from a healthcare worker who is giving mammography that Japanese girls are much tougher to take the test because there are not enough boobs to be sandwiched on the x-ray machine… that’s pity unless otherwise if you have fetish with small tits.
In terms of the malignancy, I thought colorectal carcinoma is the most common and fatal cancer recently… besides the pancreatic ones. Also, in the States, stomach cancer is not common. That disease is typically for Japanese with the common and wide infection of Helicopter Pilopilo.
Talking about the blood tests, I heard that Okayama's famous local creature, Horseshoe Crab (tachypleus tridentatus) is being UBUSED… for the detection of Gram-negative bacteria. But for me as an anime-otaku of Eva, Blood Type BLUE is a sign of Angel!! (lol)
The cop cars in San Mateo are now mostly Ford Explorers. The difference is the tune-up of their engines – very quiet for slow moving for sneaky approach, and then it goes up full-power immediately to chase bad boys. I experienced the police car ride about 15 years ago, and it was very amazing (unfortunately I didn’t encounter any bad guys were shooting us though).
Taxi vehicles in Tokyo area are amazing, those rice-ball shaped taxies are very convenient to load luggage and comfortable to ride. Are Okayaman taxis same as Tokyo’s ones? Then it must be very impressive. In SF Bay Area, comfort for the passengers is not a priority. Instead, zero-emission or less productions of CO2 are the key – therefore, taxi cars are Prius, Leef or some SUV’s with hybrid.
I am looking forward to meet Leek taxi or Zoo taxi in Okayama… with a bit of scare. (lol)
