İstanbul 2018 Mar (4)

  1. obaKoba-sann,

You had spare time to kill at FRA ahead of your connecting flight to IST, thus you made your way over to LH’s Senator Lounge.

I detect FRA to be possibly one of the most complicated airports in the world.
You’ve come aboard there many times over the years, up until now nothing may truly appear well-known.
If I were you, I’d essentially quit trying to check it out and alternatively just trail the documents with information to my next gate alike lemming.
So I won’t try to follow your course of arriving at Terminal B.
Suffice it to say you made it.

You finally got to the lounge, in which the secretary immediately looked your boarding passes over and admitted you inside.

You moved along the front counter and into the central section of the lounge.
The lounge looks very spacious with various parts for chairs.
When I saw the first pic in the article, I felt it was nearly unoccupied.
I would estimate there might have been less than 10 people in the whole lounge, so it felt inclined you had the place to yourself.

Anyhow, you took a seat, consequently you headed to get something to eat.
I’m apt to identify that the lounge has unique presents like the coloration of eggshells.
It was before Easter, though it must be great…

    1. Best Denki sensei,

In terms of the complication of airport layouts, I think London Heathrow is the worst, followed by the Terminal 2 of Charles de Gould, due to my experiences. Yes, Frankfurt is a gigantic airport indeed but for most of the flyers connecting to/from Lufthansa are easy to work with, and then the flyers by Star Alliance network are not too bad either. The problematic part is the Islamophobic security policies, in my humble opinion. When I return from Turkey, there is one more security and if my flight delays, those “Goddesses of FRASW” tries to help me by assigning a Mercedes ride from TK arrival gate to the UA departure gate, but returning passengers from Muslim countries are not allowed to shortcut, my Goddesses explained with their deepest regrets. This is the Western world where discriminations by religious attributes still exist. As a religiously neutral or believe nothing as a scientist, these situation is totally ridiculous including those ‘Allahu Akbar!’ terrorists’ attacks.

In FRA, basically it’s not difficult for change your flights if you arrive from Japan by ANA then transferring to other Star Alliance air carriers without entering Schengen Area because most of flights are arrive and depart to/from B gates.
Definitely U.S. flights are the exception because of FAA is requesting extra security for protecting U.S. properties hence the UA flights are using Z gates, which looks too much Islamophobic to me.

Besides those First Class Lounges and a Terminal, Lufthansa usually has Business Lounge and Senator Lounge, 2 in 1 together and the receptionists separate the guests left or right at the entrance. Then Star-Gold passengers are eligible to enter Senator Lounges (usually located in right sides) where the snacks and beverages are ‘slightly’ better and less crowded areas. But I sometimes use Business Lounge because Senator Lounge doesn’t have shower rooms and forwarded to another one if I wished to take shower after the long haul flight.

Because B gates are for the departures of out-of- Schengen flights w/o LH, Senator Lounge eligible passengers are automatically eliminated. However, the qualities of snacks or the variety of beverages are unified within FRA, I guess. Senator Lounge at T2 in MUC, München, is a bit better than FRA.

Although the security is somewhat Islamophobic, the foods served in the lounges are well considered for Muslim passengers. I can’t find pork (or beef for Hindu) sausages in FRA, or the lounge in MUC shows the animal icons, cute pig or cows, if the meal contains pork or beef. In such perspective, Japan is way behind for the considerations of food restrictions…
