Singapore 2018 May (6)

  1. obaKoba-sann,

You told me before that because of the metropolitan’s great cleanliness you’ve never been bitten by mosquitos or unknown insects.
I'm jealous of you to live in California where it’s not so hot or humid compared to Japan and to visit Singapore where there might not be so countless mosquitos also compared to Japan, sigh…

I know you do adore Xiao Long Bao by Din Tai Fung due to their dripping cares with giving off vapors.
It must be your conventional midday meal in Singapore.
The SF region branch is placed in South Bay, isn’t it ?
If it’s so, visiting there should be a little bit mental weight for you.
Moreover, the cost in the States may be stupid if there’re no dissimilarities from Singapore.

Isn’t the most terrific period for durian in winter ?
In the coming section of document, you’ll present Fish-Spa followed by the tropical fruit with a great deal of personality (lol).

    1. Best Denki sensei,

I believe there are bunch of mosquitoes in Singapore if I go to suburban areas… if any of “suburban” remains in Singapore… oh, how about zoo? :))
Anyway, in the MRT cars or the busses, there are governmental guidance posters instructing people how to eliminate unwanted insects and rodents. Therefore, there must be mosquitoes but people nicely control them. For rodents, I saw a huge rat, about the size of kitten, was running on the tents then stuck at the slit of manhole when I was walking around a food court with Masa-san at 3 am.
Yestarday evening, after I returned to San Mateo, I got a mosquitoes bite… it’s under 20ºC after sunset here, but we have a nice bamboo bush where small insects prefer. I forgot smoking the insecticide. Now I sprayed neonicotinoide today, made in Japan of course. Concerns the beehive? That behavior is not sustainable for environments?? Who cares? Prevention of West Nile, Zika, Yellow Fever (lol) or Malaria (LOL) viruses is more important for me. And Japanese chemicals are very efficient and damage the environment well too. :))

Though the high goes over 30ºC around here but the humidity is 15% or less, so if I choose walking shadow side, it’s not hot at all. I think here is the best climate around the world. They say “Mediterranean weather” but the actual Mediterranean is much muggier if I compare to Barcelona in July. The weather here is more likely Pamplona, Navarra, where the inland and higher elevation place. As you know, The Rain in Spain Stays Mainly in The Plain!! (The Swiss Doctor prohibited me to use this phrase. Now I am released from that curse! (lol))
We have Redwood City, where is located several miles south, has a catchy copy “Nicest weather Tested Best” but Redwood City is a bit too warm for me, there are “you-know-who” the nasty dark brown and flat insects, called Mr. G. We basically don’t have Mr. G in San Mateo. That’s another reason I decided to end my life at here. (or on the airborne so that my better-half will receive quite an amount of money)
Sorry for the incredible heat in Western Japan. It’s much hotter and steamier than Singapore. When I felt too hot and start feeling to kill someone, my iPhone (Siri) said the current temperature was 32ºC, therefore, if I were in Okayama today, there would be a serial killer for sure.

Yes, we do have Din Tai Fung in South Bay, but if I go there the waiting time will be around one hour. It doesn’t have worth waiting such long time. Just walk-in, sit and have some Xiao Long Baos is the best and acceptable way. Under such personal policy, this Din Tai Fung is the hole in the wall. My scare is the franchise decides to close this branch because it’s always empty at lunch break.

Fish spa WAS essential for me and one of the motivations to go Chinatown. However, my dear Alice, the owner madam of spa, stopped attending the venue and I have some scars on my right leg now, hence I refrained from stopping over the fish spa these days. Therefore I don’t have to insist Oh-My san to give his legs to the PhD.Fish. Instead, I started stopping by the dessert shop to have snow ice before the Stinky fruit. Now my concern is the entire calories I take… sigh.

Singapore is filled with fun. Just one thing I hate there is the tropical climate. I can’t believe businessmen are wearing long sleeve jackets under that steamy weather. It would be a torture to me.
