Tokyo 2018 Feb(11)

We're going to Lobby level. Are you sure? Not heading to the exit level?

  1. obaKoba-sann,

Kamata area is supposed to be famous for foreigners with a lot of inns coming into sight as the international flights of HND are increasing.
It must also be a region which presents many shrines and temples with ancient origins including Anamori Inari Shrine that you mentioned in the text.
I hear the Kamata station area is stuffed with cafeterias and is energetic continuously until late at night.

BTW, I’m interested in All Star TENDON whose components should be prawn, squid, scallop, maitake, lotus root and green beans.
    And Miso soup !

    According to the website, they are happy to adjust the dose of rice as follows ;
    ●Regular: 750yen
    ●Large rice:830yen
    ●Small rice:720yen

Moreover, requests of more or less sauce are acceptable.

Considering that it’s located in the middle of Tokyo, the restaurant supplies one of the most delicious tendon which is pleasing to the taste with affordable price.

    1. Best Denki sensei,

Well, for my point of view, Kamata is my father’s (or say our family’s) hometown. My father and his brothers and sisters were raised in this area, then their home is completely burned down by B29, so-called “Tokyo Daikushu.” Therefore, my father still doesn’t like United States… and other people originally born and raised in Kamata are in a same page, I guess.

However, these days, because of so many foreign tourists are using HND airport, Kamata is a convenient area for them and actually, that Kamata Sunrize Arcade where was almost corrupted completely several years ago, is now reviving all the sudden. Furthermore, the Ota-ward government became a “guinea pig” for home-stay program a.k.a. 民泊 but most of those foreigners are 三国人, and not following a good Westerners’ manner, due to the Japanese news I read… hope this program become successful and I can use Airbnb in the future.

The “Ten-Ya” is my old favorite restaurant chain since my British friend loved it, almost addicted and took me there quite often. He remembers the sign of this restaurant as “Thɧ” or something like this. Oh, by the way. That friend is the therapist and has two MD Ph.D’s. (LOL)

For your convenience in the future, Maitake is called “Oyster Mushrooms” in U.S. and Ingen is called as “string beans.” …InGen reminds me a sci-fi literature by… Robin Cook, Michael Crichton or some sort. I loved that company name because it’s involved with genetics… which I gave up learning. ;)

And thank you for the information of adjustable rice amounts. That I didn’t know. However, though I didn’t mention on the article, the Tendon sauce (it’s very close to Teriyaki Sauce from my US perspective though) is available in a jar (used as ketchup/mustard server in the States) on the counter/tables if you want more.

One more convenient info for you, doctor: Ten-Ya is also located just next to Kaminari-Mon, Asakusa where the best tendon restaurants are lining-up street. What a…!! (lol)
