Club Lounge @Mark Hopkins

  1. The Mark Hopkins Hotel, as far as I can see from the pictures, has a similar overall taste to the Ritz-Carlton Osaka, which my wife and I both love. By the way, the Club InterContinental lounge at this hotel is located on the lobby floor, which seems a bit unusual, doesn't it? Oh, there was an older gentleman at the lounge reception? My image of a club lounge representative was a "prompt and efficient woman," so that's a bit surprising. Hahaha, did you become a "face pass" after your second visit here as well?

Indeed, for Japanese women nearing 90 years old, low chairs are essential. In our clinic's waiting area, we also have slightly lower sofas. If the sofas are too low, it becomes difficult to stand up, but there is a lot of accumulated data on various medical institutions to determine the most appropriate height. However, this is specifically for Japanese patients, so it may be different in American medical institutions.

I mentioned earlier that the hotel has a "taste that my wife and I both love," but I might not be a fan of this horse sculpture, either. To sum up our taste preferences, it would be something like, "We generally like European styles, but we want to avoid overly ornate Art Deco and would like to incorporate some modern elements."

I'm not sure if it's because this is San Francisco, but they have gyoza and spring rolls (lol). I understand your hesitation to take these, but your mother also avoided them. It's impressive that she is still sensitive to things that might harm her, which is commendable for someone who boasts longevity.

    1. Yamada Denki sensei,

Some InterContinental hotels, such as Istanbul or some sort, have their club lounges on the lobby floor… probably the guests’ convenience, I guess…

The Mark Hopkins is not an original InterContinental chain but received the franchise for gathering customers. There is InterContinental San Francisco as well, but Mark Hopkins offers better location with nice view of the city, as well as the acceptance of Weekend Night coupons from IC ambassadors.

Well… this is typical “Good and Old” San Franciscan accommodation, I think. This hotel is a memorable landmark for me when I made an oath to be a US citizen. It’s already 17 years ago… (looking away)
