CalTrain Electrified

  1. Hello, Kobapork-san! So, I wasn't familiar with "Kobapork," so I did a little search, and it turns out that "kobaton at Saitama Prefecture uploaded a new (or so it seems?) menu item called "Red Vinegar-Flavored Pork Sauté." It's a pork sauté served with bright red vegetables and it has only 197 kcal per serving. But it seems like it has nothing to do with you (lol).

To my surprise, I recently learned that former Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda used to stand in front of Tsudanuma Station early every morning, handing out flyers and speaking to commuters. This was part of his long-term political activities and shows how much he valued direct communication with the local people. Unfortunately, I barely have any memories of his time in office, but I do remember that he was the first Prime Minister born in the Showa 30s and the first Prime Minister from Chiba Prefecture. I wonder if he's considered a great figure in Chiba? (lol)

You reminded me that I used to read "Harris no Kaze" in Weekly Shonen Magazine when I was in the lower grades of elementary school. I also remembered a candy manufacturer called Harris. As a child, I saw them as a reputable company, well-known for making chocolate and chewing gum, along with Kabaya and Maeda Seika. But later, they were absorbed by Kanebo, weren't they? The Showa era feels like such a distant memory...

  2. By the way, it turns out that the "Harris no Kaze" in the flesh is someone elected from your local area. She was the District Attorney of San Francisco, quickly became the Attorney General of California, then a U.S. Senator, and now the Vice President. If she becomes President in two months, it will be an incredibly rapid rise.
You say, "It's truly frightening," but if the Republican Trump were to return to the presidency, it could lead to a situation where international cooperation is disregarded, potentially threatening the safety of both America and the world. For now, I'm hoping for her victory.
However, as you pointed out, both candidates are too far to the extremes, and no matter who wins, it seems they will adopt radical policies, which indeed is quite frightening...

Now, I've finally arrived at the topic of the article title (lol). Unfortunately, I've never seen the CalTrain that runs in front of your house (and, in fact, I've never visited San Mateo). But the electrification is close to completion, right?
I've been a train enthusiast since I was in the lower grades of elementary school, so I have a preference for conventional railways over the Shinkansen, and I prefer diesel or steam locomotives over electric trains, so I might find it a bit disappointing? After all, diesel trains can run even without overhead wires, they're more resilient to power outages, and what's more, there's that "faint smell of exhaust fumes." I love that feeling of them working hard.

  3. By the way, going back to a previous comment, there's the matter of the former Minister in charge of Economic Security, nicknamed 'Koba-Hawk' instead of 'Koba-Pork' (lol).

His impressive credentials are drawing attention—not only because he’s still young at 49, but also because he stands at 186 cm tall, graduated from both the University of Tokyo and Harvard, and entered politics after working at the top ministry, the Ministry of Finance. Additionally, like Yoshihiko Noda, he always takes the time to stand in front of Yachiyo City Station when he has a moment, and even during his time as a minister, he made sure to maintain close ties with his constituents, which is unusual for a member of the National Diet.

If he can ride the wave, we might see another prime minister from Chiba Prefecture.
