In other words, Japanese Kissaten can’t be a café, those are different beast due to my Westernized understandings, I’m afraid to say.

Here’s a definition by Merriam-Webster online.
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/café

Japanese Kissaten is very unique and identical, can’t be categorized in the food and drink suppliers defined as “café,” in my humble opinion.

My favorite Japanese Kissaten is brewing coffee by using hour-grass-shaped glass syphon (a vacuum coffee maker in proper English) which is very traditional-touch and unique although paper drip method is tastier as the actual result, presentation is everything. In fact, I have two coffee syphons bought and brought back from Japan, but never used them so far because an appropriately roasted and ground coffee beans are not available here in the States.

In this coffee shop, all the clients are friends of owner and what they are chatting were very personal issues, mostly their health issues because of their age. That was a typical behavior of Japanese elderly; competing who’s having the severest disease or who’s receiving the most advanced treatments or medications… what a country! (LOL)
I’m so sorry you have to take care of these grandmas and grandpas…

Anyway, I could successfully killed my time at here without any infringement with those local customers. :PobaKobahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05520586031308040420noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9030843786433538220.post-88724171771985634012018-03-17T17:54:49.271-07:002018-03-17T17:54:49.271-07:00obaKoba-sann,
